Jacob Kelly
FOUNDER//teacher
Hi, my name is Jacob (he/him)! I’ve been teaching music lessons for over a decade but music has been part of my life for much longer. I took my first lesson when I lived in Accra, Ghana from a man named Rev. At the time, my career ambition was to learn to play Crazy Frog on guitar. Fast forward to now and I have a B.A. in Music Composition from Seattle Pacific University, I’m a regular performer in local Seattle venues, I’ve played drums on over a dozen albums including my own full length album, and I’ve toured the whole U.S. playing guitar. More importantly, I’m a continual learner and a believer that music and art are crucial components of our lives as individuals as well as essential parts of a thriving community.
Jan Davis
Piano teacher
Jan (she/they) has been active in the Seattle music scene since 2017. Her early music experience began with piano lessons at a young age, which have continued through to her adult life. She sang for many years with Rainier Youth Choirs, and was a featured performer with Green River Jazz Voices. Jan is currently a keyboardist, singer, and songwriter in the local projects Pure Mothman and Floral Tattoo. She has also had the honor of leading the keyboard program at Rain City Rock Camp, helping kids to find their voice and rock out on the keyboard. Jan believes strongly in the importance of artistic expression, and wants to help students of all ages develop their musicality to aid in that expression.
Kelsey Szefler
Piano/Voice/Guitar Teacher
Hello, I’m Kelsey (She/They)! I’m a musician & private voice instructor in Seattle. Since a young age, I’ve fostered a passion for singing & making art. I’ve spent over a decade practicing my craft in theatre, choirs, vocal competitions, performing with my indie-rock band, and as a solo singer-songwriter.
I have professional experience as a music director for community theatre, a choir conductor, and I’ve been teaching one-on-one lessons for 3 years. It brings me immense joy to watch students learn more about their abilities, learn how they can use their voice with comfort, and make the art that feels best to them.
I’m here to help you achieve your singing goals with comfort & confidence. Whether you are looking to enhance your vocal abilities, learn music theory, prep for an audition, feel self-assured during karaoke night, or even use singing and songwriting as a means of self-care, I’d love to be your guide. Let’s explore your aspirations and make them a reality!
Natalie Bartels
Piano Teacher
Hi! I’m Nat Bartels (she/they). My larger-than-life primary and secondary school teacher, Sharon, cultivated in me a lifelong love of music and inspired me to become a music teacher, myself. In 2017 I earned a BA in Sacred Music at Concordia University Irvine, CA, where Dr. Hyunjoo Choi leveled up my piano technique and Dr. Tom Mueller ignited my love of the pipe organ. After college, I came back home to WA and in 2019 completed a MM in Organ Performance at the University of Washington with Dr. Carole Terry. That degree was a huge challenge for me and what I learned is still percolating in my brain. After that time, I was a band and choir teacher for a year, then in 2020 took up teaching private music lessons in earnest, specializing in piano/organ, flute, harp, and voice. I continued teaching while I went to Scotland to do a PhD in English (my research focuses on music in late-Victorian literature) and as of 2026 I’m back in Seattle and so pleased to be working with Attuned! While I am a trained classical musician, I have other zany offshoots too like an Elvis obsession and a devotion to the Beastie Boys. My beloved teacher Sharon gave me this music teaching philosophy: I get to help people learn to love music by showing them how much I love it. Happy practicing!
